Honey is one of the best natural ingredients to use for treating acne and acne scars. One of our family friends used to massage her face regularly with pure honey and I have never seen her experience skin break outs. Though many other factors like genetics, diet, stress levels and cosmetics we use also play a role in the health of our skin, using honey regularly on the skin also greatly helps.
Honey For Acne:
Pure honey has anti bacterial and antiseptic properties which makes it very effective for treating acne. It is also very very gentle on the skin. In my personal experience, I have never seen any of my family member’s or friends having any problems applying honey on their skin. Honey has anti inflammatory properties too which helps treat the inflammation gently without causing any side effects. Honey is also very sticky which helps draw out impurities from the skin very effectively.
Honey For Acne scars:
Pure honey also helps fade acne scars very very effectively. If you are suffering from acne and if you are planning on using this honey treatment, I would suggest taking honey internally too. Applying honey externally and taking it internally will help treat the inflammation very very quickly.
Honey is full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and it helps improve immunity. I would suggest taking honey in the form of turmeric milk by mixing organic turmeric powder and honey in grass fed cow’s milk. Turmeric has wonderful anti inflammatory properties and it will help fight off acne too.
Also please make sure to check the purity of the honey before using it on the skin and always try to use unpasteurized, unprocessed pure raw organic honey. To check for the purity, pour few drops of honey in a glass of water it shouldn’t dissolve immediately and the color of the water shouldn’t change which happens when honey is adulterated with sugar syrup.
5 Top Ways To Use Pure Honey To Treat Acne & Acne Scars:
I have given some of the ways you can use honey for treating acne and acne scars below, chose the method that you prefer. But if you have very very sensitive skin, I would suggest just applying pure honey which by itself will improve the skin tone really well…
1. Oatmeal Honey & Yogurt Mask To Prevent Acne:
This is an easy face mask to make at home that prevents acne if used regularly. To make the face mask, grind oats in a dry mixer to get a smooth powder. Add equal quantities of homemade yogurt and pure honey to get a thick paste and use as a face mask.
2.Baking Soda & Honey Face Mask For Acne Scars:
Baking soda and honey lightens acne scars. Adding honey to baking powder also prevents the burning sensation that happens when we use baking soda alone on our face. For the mask, take the required amount of baking soda in a bowl. Make sure to break the lumps. Add pure honey and mix to get a thick paste and apply as a face mask.
3. Honey Egg White Face Mask To Remove Excessive Oiliness:
One of the best things about rice flour is when it dries, it tightens into a firm mask. If combined together with pure honey and an egg white, this mask will draw out excessive oiliness from the skin. To make the mask, mix around 3 tbsp of rice flour with 1 beaten egg white and a tsp of honey. Mix and apply on the face, wait for it to dry completely and firm up on the face.
4. Honey & Cinnamon Face Mask For Acne:
Honey and cinnamon is a magic combination that treats acne. But try using Ceylon cinnamon powder instead of the regular Chinese cinnamon powder we get in the markets. We don’t Ceylon cinnamon powder easily in India so I soak Ceylon cinnamon sticks in water and then I grind it together with honey in a mortar and pestle and use it as a face mask.
5. Honey and lemon Face Mask For Acne:
Honey and lemon together makes an amazing face mask that treats acne, lightens skin tone and also prevents dryness of the skin. For the face mask, squeeze some fresh lemon juice in a cup, add honey and mix well. Wash your face, pat dry and apply a thin even coat on the face. Wait for the mask to dry before washing it off. This simple face mask can be done regularly weekly twice for best results…
