I wanted to share 3 best natural home remedies for extremely dry painful cracked heels on feet. These 3 natural treatments will treat dry cracked feet fast. Many of us suffer from cracked heels and though it is not a very harmful condition, it can be painful and unsightly if left untreated. There are wonderful home remedies for cracked heels and you can find all the remedies here. But if the cracked heels are very severe and if the feet are very dry, you should try gentle remedies I have given here first. Because while the cracked heels are severe if we use abrasives like pumice stone, it can result in bleeding.

What Causes Cracked Heels ?

If you have dry skin, the skin on the feet gets even drier during winter months causing it to crack. Using harsh soaps, not moisturizing the feet during winter months worsens the problem. Certain diseases like diabetes, eczema, and psoriasis can also be the reasons for developing cracked feet.

Symptoms Of Cracked Feet:

Deep cracks in the heels, skin peeling, red patches, itching and if the cracks go deep there will be pain and bleeding too. If the symptoms are very severe, it can be very painful to even walk and even a slight touch of anything in the area can result in pain.

Best Thing For Extremely Painful Dry Cracked Heels:

  • If the cracks are deep, I would suggest not scrubbing at all, first gently wash your feet with a mild soap to get rid of any dirt and then immerse your feet in a foot soak that has a mixture of Epsom salt and lemon.
  • Epsom salt softens the feet really well and lemon helps fight off the infection and also acts as a scrubber. I squeeze in the juice and then scrub the feet with peel, this acts a gentle scrubber while still soaking the feet.
  • After soaking for at least 20 minutes (you need this much amount of time, if your feet are extremely dry), I apply cold pressed coconut oil, I do this everyday for a week by the end of the week the feet would have heeled a lot and would be ready for the regular treatment.

Cracked Heels Treatment:

Once the feet has healed a bit, the second week, we can start using pumice stone but always use pumice stone only after soaking your feet. I would suggest using the pumice stone along with a homemade scrub then apply coconut oil, do this everyday for the second week. By the end of the second week, you feet would have healed a lot and would continue to get better.

How To Heal Deep Cracked Heels Permanently?

Once your heels has healed completely which will take 2 to 3 weeks depending how severe the condition is you can stop doing the treatment daily. I would suggest doing it weekly twice for best results, this will keep you keeping cracked heels permanently but if you can’t do it weekly twice, try doing it at least weekly once.

To make the foot soak, boil 2.5 litres of water in a pot and once it heats up to lukewarm temperature, switch off. Now add 2 tbsp of Epsom salt and squeeze in the juice of a lemon, don’t throw away the lemon peel. Now soak your feet in it for at least 20 minutes and periodically scrub you feet with the lemon peel.

Coconut oil is very hydrating and very nourishing and regularly massaging your feet with coconut oil will help get rid of cracked heels very quickly. Do this treatment everyday for a week, by the end of the week, your feet would have healed a lot.

THE SECOND WEEK:

c. Foot Scrub For Dry Cracked Feet:

The second week, soak your feet in Epsom salt foot soak daily but instead of lemon use a pumice stone to scrub the feet along with a homemade scrub. Natural homemade scrubs are wonderful for treating cracked heels and at home. They also soften rough skin and leaves the heels smooth and soft. For the scrub, take 1 tbsp rice flour, kasthuri turmeric and licorice powder in a bowl. Add in enough water and mix well to form a  paste. To use, take little bit of the scrub in the pumice stone and scrub your feet gently after the soak. After scrubbing, wash your feet well, pat dry and apply coconut oil. Continue this everyday and by the end of the second week your feet would have healed completely. Continue doing this treatment weekly twice to remain free of cracked feet….
