Avocados are amazing for skin care, we can make lots of amazing skin care products with it. I make face scrub, face cream and acne treatment using avocados whenever I  buy avocados. We can even use the avocado skin for skin care treatments too.

What Is Avocado? 

Avocado is one of the fattiest fruits in the world. Avocados were first introduced to India in the early 19th century, now you can get avocados in all the vegetable shops in major cities in India. Though avocados are rich in fat, they are mostly moneunsaturated fat with is very good for us.

Avocados Nutrition:

100 grams of ripe avocados contain 160 calories, 15 grams of fat, 9 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of protein. Avocados are rich in vitamin A, vitamin B6, Vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

1. For Dry Skin:

Avocado face masks treats dry skin effectively. Especially, during winter months hydrating masks like the mask I have given below will prevent excessive dryness and will keep the skin soft and supple.

2. For Acne & Acne Scars:

Avocados are widely used in cosmetics now for their wonderful effects on the skin. Masks made with fresh avocados are soothing and helps combat acne and regular use also fades acne scars.

3. For Wrinkles:

Avocado is best for mature skin that is prone to wrinkles when used as a face pack regularly. Avocado face scrub helps reduce blackheads gently and is great for ageing skin prone to wrinkles and sagging.

4. For Oily Skin:

Avocado masks can be used for both oily and combination skin. For both oily and combination skin, use rose water and for dry skin use either milk or curd to grind it. Avocado neem mask given below is especially useful for acne prone oily skin as it treats both the conditions. 

5. For Glowing Skin:

 Avocado brightens the skin tone and leaves the skin glowing. Before attending any functions, try the avocado mask, you will not need any other skin treatments. You can also make a simple avocado scrub with avocado skin, so don’t throw the skin away.

Avocados are a nutrient rich powerhouse filled with nutrients like monounsaturated fatty acids, carotenoids, vitamins, phenolic compounds, etc. Regular intake of avocados has been proven to increase skin elasticity and firmness in women. 

In a study, 39 females ranging from 27 to 73 years were split into two groups. One group was asked to consume one avocado everyday for a period of 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, their facial skin elasticity, firmness, pigmentation, hydration and sebum were determined. Elasticity and firmness increased in the group that consumed avocado after 8 weeks compared to the other group.

3 Ways To Use Avocado For Skin Care:

1. Avocado Face Pack

To make avocado face pack, take a tablespoon of oats in a mixer along with avocado and little milk to form into a paste. The paste should neither be too thick nor too thin. To use, apply it all over the face and neck, wait for it to almost dry and then wash it off. If you have oily skin, you can use rose water instead of milk.

2. Avocado Face Scrub

For the scrub, soak 10 almonds in water for 2 hours. Remove the skin and grind them to a fine powder in a mixer and store in an airtight box. To make the scrub after eating avocados, don’t throw away the peels. Sprinkle some almond powder on top of the avocado peels, mix well with your hands and use it to scrub your face. Scrub will exfoliate the skin very gently.

3. Avocado Acne Treatment

For the acne treatment, scoop out the flash of an avocado in a bowl. Add in a few drops of neem oil and mix well. You can also grind it in a mixer too. To use, apply the paste all over the face and wait for it to almost dry and then wash it off. Both neem oil and avocado help reduce inflammation and they also help fade acne scars too. You can apply this face pack everyday till you get good relief.
