10 Amazing Skin, Hair Benefits & Uses Of Ghee | Clarified Butter | Desi Ghee

What is ghee? Ghee is pure fat left over when the moisture is completely removed from butter and it is called clarified butter all over the world. Ghee is regarded very highly in India and we use ghee for our food, rituals, prayers, home remedies and for external application. Almost every home in India, will have a ghee vessel separately to make it easy to scoop the ghee out. I have grown up seeing my elders use ghee everyday. We use ghee mainly in the lunch and we consume it along with dhal. In my grandmas time, ghee was prepared fresh everyday before lunch in a small vessel and I have to say the smell of fresh ghee will make anyone hungry. Nowadays, we make ghee and reheat it, but in the olden times, it was made fresh everyday. Ghee was mainly used only along with dhal in the afternoon and for making sweets, which was mainly done only during festival times. I think if we consume ghee like our elders did, we will get all the wonderful benefits it offers. When I say ghee, I am talking about desi ghee that is prepared at home because the quality of the butter is very important. Milk from grass fed cows are milked everyday, boiled and set into yogurt. The yogurt is churned to get butter and when we boil butter till the water evaporates fully, we get ghee. So the quality of the milk is very important. Ghee made from grass fed, full fat, organic milk tastes wonderful and it is full of nutrients like vitamin a, d and e. You will be surprised if I say that ghee is used as a home remedy for treating illness. I for one, am a strong believer of homemade ghee, as I personally feel they taste better and also we know it is made with the finest butter. Making your own ghee is especially important, if you are using it for home remedies. Ghee stores well for up to 2 to 3 week at room temperature, if stored in clean ceramic pots. If you are reheating ghee, take only the required amount and melt it, instead of melting the entire amount of ghee to retain the freshness.
